Our Story
Brief History
The Northern College of Science and Technology is an educational institution established as a community-initiated, private-led intervention to address specific human resource needs in the Health, Science, and Technology spheres in the Eastern Corridors of Northern Ghana and beyond.
The desire to make this collaborative initiative a reality is what motivated the founder, supported by the Chiefs and the people of Dagbon, to establish the school.
This developmental intervention was informed by the continuous refusal of some key health personnel — such as Medical Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, and Pharmacists, among others — to accept postings to work in healthcare facilities in the Northern Sector due to the deprived nature of the area, rendering most of these facilities in the communities ineffective.
Additionally, the lack of interest in science and technology related courses among young people within the geographical area triggered the establishment of Northern College of Science and Technology in Yendi — with an overarching purpose to provide long-term solutions to the challenges confronting the area, especially science and technology education, as well as the delivery of quality healthcare in the Northern Sector and the Oti Regions.
